El Cazador de la Bruja - Anime Review

Hello everyone ! Here I am with the review of the anime El Cazador de la Bruja. Here we go !

Story: 6.5

The idea for the plot is very interesting and I truly liked it. The problem, though, is the execution. Because of a weak approach and disorganized division of the story development, it becomes somewhat like a roller coaster, showing some episode sequences exploring a lot and right after a hiatus that brings a feeling that something is missing. Hence, the result is sort of average.

Characters: 8.0

The greatest pillar, I'd say. The anime is focused on developing and exploring interactions between the characters, mainly Ellis and Nadie (of course). The friendship built up and its cuteness are the key factor, as well as some conflicts that, eventually, take place. For me, that was the biggest reason to keep watching the anime.

Song Themes: 8.5

The opening is great ! Happy, good melody and vocals, definately worth it ! The ending, on the other hand, is good but still less interesting than the opening, I should say. Concluding, the themes overall is rather good. Additionaly, since I paid some attention to the ost , I added some more points (0.5, if you're that curious!) to the score. After all, the soundtrack is great and I enjoyed it a lot !

Design: 7.0

Not that gorgeous but definitely not bad at all, for sure. I consider it good enough for the anime. For instance, it was harmful for no scene. It's also important to highlight that El Cazador was produced in 2007. So, for an 'old' anime, the graphics are actually pretty decent and the characters desing is nice. (Plus, Ellis, Nadie and Lirio are very cute !)

Beggining: 4.5

That's a very slow-start anime. The beggining is used to show the personalities of the characters and start building a relation between Nadie and Ellis. In other words, it's boring. I think the main reason for this is that the story is almost unexplored in these initial phases, leaving only two more options to keep the audience captivated: the characters interaction, that doesn't help much considering you don't even know them yet; and the funny parts (thank god they exist!).  The comedy scenes are, basically, the only thing that draws attention, at least in these early moments.

Evolution: 6.5

The middle part is somewhat better than the slow-paced start, but still lacks something. Thankfully, by now Ellis and Nadie's friendship is good and the story is sligthly developed, making it more interesting. The episodes are way more enjoyable to watch, but there is no boom, you know(?). I mean, there's nothing huge that sets fire to the whole thing and make you wonder "what's next??!!". For this reason, I don't consider this 'igniteless' evolution to be the best one ever.

Ending: 7.0

As the final episodes arrive, the anime becomes increasingly intense. Nadie and Ellis meet Lirio and Ricardo every episode to fight or kill someone (they're bounty hunters, after all) and that's something I totally liked ! L.A. dies for my astonihsment (I thought he would either live until the end or kill ricardo in that fight). The episode before the last is still unknown for me, like, seriously! Things happened in such a weird way that I'm not sure if I understood something. Even though I recongnize I'm extremely dumb, I strill think they ended it unclearly ! Anyway, the ending was the best part, considering the focus on the story and the tension between the episodes.

Average: 7.3

So, doing the math, the average rate is 6.9, but disconsidering its bad beggining the average got to 7.3 stars, pretty decent for this anime !

Final Comments:

I clearly pointed out many flaws of this anime and for me, the biggest one is the bad exploration of the story. For a long time, I developed no interest for El Cazador in the early episodes, but heading towards the tenth episode, it started getting interesting and very funny. After, I don't know, episodes 16 or 17, it got really exciting to watch because the story sort of funnels into a very fast evolution and, finally, its ending. What I was looking forward to seeing, after I found myself into the anime, were the cute and funny moments that Nadie and Ellis shared and I absolutely love the way they are haha ! Every episode was one more opportunity to laugh because the format chosen is an independent-episode style (one small sidestory that is concluded within the duration of a single episode). I can tell you all that, for me, this anime was completely worth it, even though it is far from perfection !

That's all I have to say about El Cazador de la Bruja, a slow but very enjoyable, funny and cute anime ! Hope you guys liked this review jus like I did! Anime Review: Introduction and Criteria Explanation

What's up people ? How you doing ? So, since I'll be posting some anime reviews soon, I think I have to explain my evaluation criteria to make it clearer to you ! Here they are !

Story: 

It is the main idea of the anime. Everything should colaborate to its beggining, development and conclusion. For me, it is one of the most important contents and, in a general way, it is what I care most about the anime.

Characters:

I would say they are the means by which you create and evolve your story. Undoubtedly, their relevance is big, but, for me, they aren't heavy factors in my rates. Nevertheless, I have to admit that some anime are worth it only because theirs characters are interesting (funny, cute, gorgeous ...).

Song Themes:

Yeah, I know it is kinda weird but the opening and ending of an anime is, sometimes, the only reason to watch it, hence I always consider this as a supportive aspect. For this reason, the themes aren't a key factor but may come in handy in drawing your attention, specially in the early stages. 

*Sometimes, I will also consider the OST in this category, but if I do it, I'll mention it here and, also, the OST will grat some bonus points instead of being used to make a mean.

Design:

Another 'secondary' factor. It is most important to make you grow some interest to watch the anime before actually doing it, like on trailers and teasers. For me it's almost irrelevant (unless it's horrible), so it is just some bonus.  

Beggining:

Commonly, it defines wheter you'll watch the anime or not. It is sort of an ignition that makes you very excited about it and looking forward to it. I don't despise it, but for me (who watch even the shittiest stuff ever) it is not the most important thing ever.

Evolution:

The way the anime (and the story, often) develops. I use the middle part of the anime to rate this aspect, basically. After many 'not that relevant' criteria, this is one I look forward to. The evolution means a lot to me, probably because its performance is usually involved directly to the story progress, one of my favorite parts. 

Ending:

The last but DEFINITELY not least. This is, together with the story and the evolution, the most important aspect I wish to see in an anime. I am very rigorous about it, for example I hate cliché endings, I prefer something more unexpected and sad rather than a happy ever after finale. Despite how much I care about it, I have to admit that it is rare for me to watch an anime ending that I really like, so, in response, I can't and don't take this aspect completely serious to judge an anime overall, otherwise I would consider 95% of them horrible :/ . Still, extremely shitty endings change the way I see and judge an anime a lot.

Final Comments:

This section is used to add some comments that I don't think would fit anywhere else. Also, I will often give my 'heart' rating, the grade that was not obtained by the mean of all the criteria above. Plus, I will write here my opinion regarding the anime, what were the top and bottom things and say whatever shit I want to.

Durarara!! X2 Ketsu Comments : Episode 7

Hello guys ! I'm back with episode 7 review, hope you enjoy !

Let's start with Namie blowing the whistle ! Mikado gets really worried and even exits the chat to avoid more trouble. Meanwhile, Izaya's sisters make a funny parallel conversation to break the ice haha. Oh, there's also something I'd like to point out. The news channel for Durarara is named 666, like, WAT. And the 6 icons just move in a loop in some devilish way, to make it even worse ! I guess someone is going to hell because of this, just saying ...

Then Rocchi and Kida have some chat about life, friends, and Anri's rack. Just a casual conversation between buddies, you know.

Back to Kasane, she is talking to Seitarou. During the conversation, she reveals her plan of reuniting Celty's head to her body, so she would return to 'normal', and then the glassed bitch would cut her head off with saika for her to gain control of Celty. She's such a bitch! And Kujiragi also mentioned she had a rival in love, would that be Celty? Come on, fuck off ! Stay away from Shinra !

Next, we have some Shizuo! He already arrives making a strike and scaring everyone out. 

Kasane, then, tells Shizuo her plan and that she wants to sell Celty and even calls her a monster! Okay, this woman is driving me crazy! In response, Shizuo is so damn cute saying Celty is his friend, even in her actual black matter form !

All in a sudden, Varona joins the party and prevent Shizuo from kicking Kasane and Seitarou asses, Why ???!!! Anyway, Shizuo and her start having a senpai-kouhai conversation (soooo cuuuute xD) and she ends up saving him from some iron bars that fell from the rooftop of a building (Izaya is the one to blame, as always) and gets injured. Right after, Izaya somehow makes a dredge fall at the two blondes but Shizuo just knocks the vehicle away to protect Varona (cute again).

To finish it up, Celty disappears so Kasane runs away and let Yagiri on his own to deal with the bartender-suited boy. Okay, that was the first useful thing she ever did in the anime, for real. For the old man's luck (and our misfortune), though, Shizuo leaves the place without killing beating him up, but, of course, he checked if Varona was okay. He also apologized to her but he mentioned he had to go.

So that's it for me ! I just loved this episode ! It had some action, LOTS of Shizuo scenes and even the reinforcement of the ship ! Hope you liked it as well, see ya !

Durarara!! X2 Ketsu Comments : Episode 6

Hey everyone, I'm back with the Episode 6 review of Durarara!! X2 Ketsu ! Hope you like it ! 

So, first, we have Rocchi showing how efficient he is on listening not only with all of his 'honeys' but also with Kida, he is so kind omg (he deserves a compliment, c'mon !) ! He even sort of helps Masaomi giving him some tips (and also hitting his head, don't forget that lol). Although it's not finished yet, I thought Rochhi would cause touble instead of helping, but, anyways, wish it comes in handy.

Next, we have Anri and Saki having a little chat. Saki asks what is the relationship Anri has with Kida and Mikado and also, well,  if she is weird (yes, you are, lady !) ! She seemed sure when she talked about Masaomi, but about Ryuugamine she seemed in doubt, hmm. In the end, Sonohara says they're like her savior (quite heroic, right ?) and Saki feels more relieved, well, at least that's what I think. 

At last, Mikado and Aoba's onii-chan have a rather suspicious conversation. I like how the Dollars leader is such a wimp and he is well aware of that, though he's been trying to act tough lately. I hope he is smart enough because there seems to be a lot of trouble to come very soon. Oh, and I wonder what Izumii showed him, I've no idea what it could be.

I liked the episode even though it wasn't that full of action. It just flowed well and the story is being set neatly, problably preparing the ground for some real mess that may come still in this season (I hope). So, that's it, people. Hope you had a nice time ! Bye !

Durarara!! X2 Ketsu Comments : Episode 5

Hello guys ! The episode 5 review is right here ! Hope you have fun reading it 'cause this is a big one !

Let's start with KASANE KISSING SHINRA!! WHAAAAT THE FUUUCK !! Who do you think you are, bitch ?!?!?! And why on earth is Celty just watching ??!! It totally drove me crazy !! Someone is kissing your boyfriend (and cutting him) right in front of you !!! A whole mess is set up. Celty becomes a black mass, that Kasane bitch runs away with Shinra on her arms (!!!) and Celty goes berserk mode and destroys half her house in order to rescue her boyfriend from that att whore ! Nevertheless, it's important to highlight Walker's reaction. That was just hilarious xD !

Thank god, Shizuo shows up to settle things (and me) down ! Some stupid kids start teasing him about his bartender clothes (c'mon, it's fashion !). Then, one kid kicks him and, as a response, the blonde (and gorgeous) man calmly throws the kid and his bike midair. While the bike falls and breaks, he grabs the little boy before he colides with the ground (he shoulda let him die). In the end, the kids run away and Shizuo has to go home with a broken bike on his shoulder. Shizuo is always involved in some funny stuff and that's why I love him so much !

And it only gets better ! Varona seems very confused about what she was doing (like exploding police cars and helping on Shinra's kidnapping). The most important, though, is that she seems to regret it because her 'normal-life days' may never return as a result of what she is doing in the moment. Plus, I totally saw an affection towards Shizuo and absolutely LOVED IT ! She was still in doubt of what were her true feelings but I ship'em hard, so, hopefully, she realizes she loves him and they become a couple in the near future!

Forward, Izumii kicks Kida's ass but fortunately Rocchi saves the day ! Maybe falling to the ground did good to him ! He even jumps from the building to a spotlight and then a truck wow !

Finishing it up, Celty's horse finds Shizuo and asks for his help. It ends up taking the broken bike Shizuo had and making it darker and suuuuper cooler, so Shizuo rides it in order to help Celty ! Oh, and Saki is waiting for Anri in front of her house for some reason. Such a stalker, geez ...

This episode was the best so far for me ! It had insane things going on and even some ship development, so I'll call it a day for now ! Hope you had a nice time ! See ya !

Durarara!! X2 Ketsu Comments : Episode 4

It's me again ! So, let's not waste any time and go straight to the review !

Starting with Kida's hand fucked up. I could draw that better ! How I wish I could. So, Rocchi and Kida are fighting for some reason (Rocchi's explanation was really bad, sorry :/ ).

We also have the saika possessors having a chat. Kasane(-sensei!) wants to buy Anri's saika (wtf). Sonohara seems still confused about what she is and she should do. In the end, she decided to keep saika in her possession, for the time being. Then Erika pops up and asks if Kujiragi would like to join her cosplay club. The best part is that Kasane actually gave Erika her number ! This scene was the best so far, seriously !

Okay, now going back to the boys clash, Rocchi falls down from the roof of the building and, somehow, he survives (because of his knuckle-head, probably) !

After, Shizuo (I missed him so badly xD) meets a saika puppet at the jail wanting to drive him crazy so he would destroy the whole place ! Like Heiwajima Shizuo would ever do something like that hehe... After the cops let him free, a police vehicle blasts off all in a sudden ! Shizuo faces the culprit, who is likely to be Varona !

Then, Haruna and her father meet and, after being dumped, he kidnaps her ! I bet it was because he was missing her a lot! It seems that her beloved teacher is also a saika possessor or he is being controlled by some other saika owner! This was surprising, I have to admit.

To wrap up the episode, Kasane visits Shinra and Celty at their house. What the hell does she want ??!!

Durarara!! X2 Ketsu Comments : Episode 3

Hello everyone ! Here are the comments for the thrid episode of Durarara!! X2 Ketsu ! Let's start !

So, Celty's head is on the news and Mikado calls Izaya to know if he's got anything to do with this. C'mon Mikado, what do you think ??!!

Haruna talks to Sonohara about doing something to Kida and Ryuugamine, but Anri-chan tells her to back off bitch not to mess with them. Then, Haruna proposed a help deal, but as Anri refuses it the crazy pink-dressed girl wants to pick up a fight because she wants Anri's saika. She's insistent as hell, you know.

Back to Izaya, he and Mikado have a very weird and boring conversation that ends up with Ryuugamine telling Orihara-san (don't even imagine why he'd call him this way, wtsvr) to take a look at the news.

Now, we return to the duel ! In the middle of the fight, Anri asks Haruna what exactly she was (yeah, great time to have an identity crisis). More suddenlyier, Kasane shows up and totally wrecks Haruna, teaching her who is DA BOSS. After this, Kujiragi-san makes an offer on Anri's saika. Two saika eroges in only one episode, wow ! To finish their conflict, Kasane suggests them all to go to a café to talk properly. Okay, I really don't know what the hell is going on with these girls !

Moving to the last scenes, to finish it up ! Two unknown guys talk about some scheme and one of them reveals he knows who made the hit-and-run to Kadota. Plus, Rokujo (Rocchi) meets Kida and asks if he prefers to have the Yellow Scarves destroyed or taken over. Well, at least he gave Kida some (two) options, right ?
